Rodeos are a popular pastime, particularly in rural areas where the cowboys are born and the bulls are bred.
But when the sporting event arrived in the beachside village of Byron Bay on the far north coast of New South Wales, it was met not just by locals and tourists keen to see the action, but animal activists as well.
