‘He’s got a lot of hand movement’ Trump talks about Beto O’Rourke

United States News

Donald Trump’s first reaction to Beto O’Rourke’s 2020 campaign launch on Thursday had nothing to do with what the former Texas congressman said – because the president didn’t hear a word of it. A White House official told DailyMail.com hours after Trump scoffed at O’Rourke’s ‘hand movements’ that the president had seen ‘a few minutes’ of the Democrat’s first campaign event in Keokuk, Iowa, but had the sound off. Asked two hours later in the Oval Office for a verdict on O’Rourke, Trump’s response was muted: ‘Well I think he’s got a lot of hand movement. I’ve never seen so much hand movement. … I watched him a little while this morning doing – I assume it was some kind of a news conference. And I’ve actually never seen anything quite like it.’ Trump is himself known as an arm-waver, entertaining rally audiences with hand movements that range from fist-pumps to full-wingspans for emphasis, and everything in between. And as he spoke on Thursday, his own mittens left his lap several times.
